ABOUT THE ARTIST

Susy Freelove also known as Susy Cremers born in 1961 in Maine. Studied art at the San francisco Art Institute and graduated with and BFA in 1981 MFA in 1983.
Since the late 1990's she has been creating large scale interactive art events for hundreds of families in West Cork Ireland. These events would involve 30 working artists performing in costumes and installations which she designed and created out of recycled materials. Each one a unique live experience of a classic story and were greatly popular successful and enjoyable by all who partook.
In 2008 she began to focus more on her own personal work which involved the exploration of the unseen, the artists dreams, raw emotions, internal commentary and reaction to the state of the capitalistic consumer culture. with a series of works; Giraffe man, Designer Trash, inner body.
In 2010-12 She created several large panels: The Door, The relationship and the marriage of heaven and earth.
In 2011 she created "Break in" exhibition performance a video which can be watched here. over 100 people came to see it and was based on the exploration of "who is Esus?" the artist as magician. posted in June 24 2012 of this blog. Her current work in 2013 reflects a authentic artistic exploration of self, and the world as seen upside down, and the creation of stories via painting and assemblage of mixed media and found objects.

Focus

Back from a trip to New England and taking advantage of the space I have cleared to focus on my recent sculptures. These new pieces are made out of 100% rubbish...(pronounced Roobish, just to give it class). It is my intention to create art which challenges our preconceptions and provokes thought and awakens the imagination. I have created a piece which is for the viewer to interact with by rearranging items in compartments. I am seeking assistance to put wheels and motorise these sculptures which is holding me up at the moment. I have enough work to fill a large gallery but so far no leads and no acceptance for a place to show and am considering to bring my art to the people with an interactive performance art show via the street.

I hope to have some decent photos up of these new works as soon as possible.

Whats next?

I want to continue to create events for families, work with artisits in the community and begin to show my work once again in galleries. I hope to create a hallowneen extravaganza in Cork city, so keep your eyes on the look out.

The Magical Mystery Tour

During this years West Cork Easter Arts Festival last Minute Productions will present:
"The Magical Mystery Tour" celebrating 10 years of Easter Adventures in Ballydehob. Situated on the enchanting 30 acre wild reserve and holistic centre of An Sanctoir this event is an interactive spectacle produced and directed by Susy Cremers and team of amazing and talented local actors and artists.
This years adventure will comprise of 5 areas: 1. The fun fair based on an old fashioned fair with mock stalls and tests of skill, 2. The Castle which will house a wacky king and queen, 3.The Pirates complete with lifesized ship, the cowboys and the indians and on going game of capture the flag,
4. The drumming, dancing and fire area, and 5.The enchanted woods. Participants of all ages will have the opportunity to interact with characters and explore this fantasy world at their free will.
from 2-5 pm on Easter Monday April 13. This year we are promoting cyclists and walkers
and anyone who arrives this way can come in for a donation, all cars will be charged E30 whether parking at An Sanctoir or on the road.
